Google brings new tools to manage content in YouTube Kids app
As a matter fact, two updates have been launched today, which bring parent-approved content and a new YouTube experience for older kids. The first thing shared by Google is the new parental control that enables parents to manually choose each video and channel available to their child in the app.
The new parental controls are only available on Android for the time being, but it will be released on iOS very soon, so be patient if you're an Apple user. In order to activate this feature, simply go to settings and open the child's profile. Then, select “approved content only” and you'll be able to choose what videos your kids can watch. To make things much easier, you can choose entire channels, collections or videos belonging to a certain creator by tapping the “+” button.
The second update brings a new experience customized for children of 8 to 12 years, which includes additional new content such as music and gaming videos. Parents can now choose this experience specifically built for older kids when they set up a new profile or update an existing one.The “Younger” version of YouTube Kids app remains the default experience though. For the time being, the “Older” experience is being rolled out in the United States, but Google has plans to expand it globally in the future.
