Blockchain-powered HTC Exodus 1 starts selling at a reasonable crypto price

Hot on the heels of a blockchain-powered device called Finney from lesser-known manufacturer Sirin Labs, HTC is making the Exodus 1 phone available for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin buyers.
Given the volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market, you may not be surprised to hear the price unveiled back in October converts to a significantly smaller sum of (conventional) money.
Specifically, we’re talking about a fixed 0.15 BTC/4.78 ETH/19.84 LTC rate that equates to around $570, $480, and $580 respectively right now.
What’s unfortunate is that, although shipments are reportedly underway, the official website still lacks actual product images showcasing the front and back design in full. HTC seems to think the target audience of the Exodus Phone cares more about stuff like the Zion all-in-one blockchain secure wallet and complete user privacy, which may well be the case.
Nonetheless, it’d be nice to find out more about the actual contents of the Exodus 1 retail box from its online checkout page than the fact it includes a Rapid Charge 3.0 with a USB Type-C cable (take that, Apple), an HTC clear case, and a complimentary pair of USonic adaptive earphones.

Then again, the spec sheet was confirmed a little while back, with everything from a Snapdragon 845 processor to 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage space, a sharp 6-inch display, dual 12 + 16MP rear-facing cameras, and a generous 3,500 mAh battery in tow, so the bang for buck Bitcoin factor is certainly attractive.

Who knows, perhaps this latest experiment will indeed manage to open the HTC brand up to a new audience in a time of great difficulty. View Full Bio
